    QC Hillel gives back

    To kick-start the new month, Queens College’s Hillel organized and held their first ever Good Deeds Day Donation Drive on April 8. The Drive accepted donations of “diapers, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and soap bars,” which will be donated to “Homes for the Homeless.”   Good Deeds Day was organized by sophomore and undeclared major, Aviva Chait, who is one of QC Hillel’s LINK Fellowship interns. She described LINK as a, “Student engagement fellowship that you apply for if you have programming you want to run, like engaging with the community, and it gives you funding.” Chait decided to bring Good Deeds Day to QC to celebrate her birthday…

    The everlasting debate regarding whether vaccinations contribute to the development of autism in children has given rise to the “anti-vaxxer” crowd among some Americans, who have come to the conclusion that their children should not be receiving vaccinations at all. Particularly in New York City, the debate has once again surfaced, this time in relation to the recent outbreaks of measles.     Ilhan Omar attacked for controversial statements deemed anti-semitic

    IRepresentative Ilhan Omar has once again made headlines after several of her controversial tweets about Israel and its relationship with the U.S were found to be offensive.   After making history during the 2018 midterm elections and being voted into Congress as the first Somali-American Muslim to represent Minnesota’s 5th congressional district in the U.S House of Representatives, the headlines that once praised Omar’s historic appointment quickly turned sour.     This past January, a documentary exposing Michael Jackson for sexually abusing children was presented to the public at the Sundance Film Festival. Since then, there have been countless debates on whether the accusations are true, with the Jackson family at the forefront denying the allegations. “I felt guilt this weekend like I let him down [by speaking up].
