“Frankly Frustrated” Anonymous Petition Stirs Confusion Among QC Academic Senate and PSC

4 mins read

Following the March 25th anonymous threat, a change.org petition and flyers calling for the removal of Queens College President Frank H. Wu was found around campus, fabricating an endorsement by the Professional Staff Congress and falsely advertising a vote of no confidence at the April 16th Academic Senate meeting.

The petition was created on March 26th by petition starter “Frankly Frustrated.” According to the petition starter’s bio found on Change.org: “We are a collective of frankly frustrated faculty, staff and student members at Queens College, City University of New York.” The Knight News tried to reach out to the petition starter but has received no response.

Flyers found around campus have QR codes that link to the petition as well as the QC PSC’s meetings page, the Academic Senate page on the QC website and a link to submit a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request. The flyers encouraged people to attend the QC Academic Senate meeting on April 16th and advertised a vote of no confidence, which was never approved to be on the agenda at the meeting and therefore did not take place.

The petition calls for the investigation and removal of President Wu following the actions taken when the credible threat was made to QC during the Middle States Accreditation Report Read Out on March 25th. The petition states: “This alarming situation has raised serious questions about the priorities and effectiveness of the administration under President Frank Wu. The failure to communicate this threat demonstrates a blatant disregard for the well-being and safety of the Queens College community.”

The petition also mentions the current hiring freeze, the asbestos found in Delany Hall and pipe bursts in the Student Union that have since been resolved. As of April 27th, 2026 the petition has 41 verified signatures.

The logos featured on some of the flyers include University Student Senate CUNY, PSC CUNY, District Council 37, and Student Association.

“People are going to think that this is either something we put out or something that we endorse, and we had not been contacted about that.” Chapter Chair of PSC Queens College Chapter Erica Doran said about the flyers in an interview with The Knight News. “We just want to make it clear this isn’t our doing [and] we aren’t the people behind it because people have reached out to me and others saying, ‘is this a PSC thing?’ because that might influence whether they sign the petition and other things.”

The PSC is a union that represents the 30,000 CUNY faculty and staff they represent. The Queens College chapter of the PSC’s recent campaigns have been advocating for Delany Hall health and safety, the freedom to protest on campus, and have been advocating for students, faculty and staff impacted by budget cuts.

“We at the PSC are doing everything we can to protect not just our members but the campus community as a whole,” Doran said. “We are fighting and we are continuing to fight to get the Queens College that we all deserve.”
