Outside of the Dining Hall and Student Union, there were long rows of people waiting to vote - lines longer than usual, stretching across campus. The sense of community proved to be strong amongst the Peruvian people.

For many attendees, the presence of a large number of people from their home community created a welcoming sense of familiarity. Attendees expressed that QC has made them feel welcomed into the community, but the event elevated that sense of belonging.

Anyone interested in applying to law school must c Anyone interested in applying to law school must consider some of the following items during the application process: the LSAT, their GPA, legal internships and tuition.
Within the Political Science department is
Queens College's Pre-Law Program, designed to help students prepare their applications. The program has been running since 2023, following the former pre-law program run by the Philosophy Department, which ended in fall 2022.

Professor Keena Lipsitz shared the resources she provides to pre-law students to help them make an informed decision. She uses her connections to host events with lawyers and judges, helps place students in internships and advises students on their law school applications.

Thanks to Professor Lipsitz, some found success. However, other pre-law students raised concerns about the advice they'd been given.

In Spring 2024, Queens College students voted to e In Spring 2024, Queens College students voted to eliminate the $40 shuttle bus fee and redirect the funds to athletics and other student services. 92% of students voted in favor of the reallocation of funds according to an email sent to students by Vice President for Student Affairs Jennifer Jarvis. This was due to the low ridership and reliability issues of the bus.

The funding was reallocated to areas such as athletics, student government, the College Association, welcome day/orientation and student programming.

For the men's soccer team, the additional funding has brought visible improvements. David Oprea, a senior from Norway who joined the program in 2022, has witnessed the effects firsthand. However, not all students have felt the benefits of the funding.

On February 26th, a student at Columbia University On February 26th, a student at Columbia University was detained by ICE agents under false pretences. ICE agents posed as NYPD searching for a missing child and entered the dorms without a warrant. This caused an uproar among students, leading them to call for action against ICE operations, as well as a call from Mayor Zohran Mamdani to have the student released.

Following this incident, students wonder what initiatives Queens College is taking to protect their students. Students on campus who are aware of the incident have expressed fear for their safety.

To assist students, Queens College's Immigrant Support Initiative guides students through immigration issues they may face. On the QC website, the Immigrant Support page has a list of different resources the college provides. It details your rights as an immigrant student and what procedures are in place in the event law enforcement comes to campus.

The Transfer Hub, located in the basement level of The Transfer Hub, located in the basement level of Frese Hall at Queens College, opened in October 2025. Since its arrival, it has remained quite separated and mostly unknown from other campus support systems.

According to President Wu’s speech at the grand opening, he offers the Transfer Hub as a starring show of “our commitment to transfer student success and our duty to do everything that we can to support fully half of our enrollment here, which starts off at our sister institutions in the CUNY system.”

The Transfer Hub offers seemingly the same resources as the First-Year Experience (FYE): events, study locations and peer mentors for all first-year students. This raises questions on the existence of the Transfer Hub and what, if any, motive there was to not expand on the existing FYE resource.

SA hosted Multicultural Night (MCN) on March 26th, SA hosted Multicultural Night (MCN) on March 26th, bringing together student performers from various cultural organizations. Although the event concluded successfully, the weeks leading up to it posed significant challenges for performers, particularly dancers, who struggled to secure consistent rehearsal space.

For Aquino and QC TROPA, the closure of the Student Union (SU) eliminated an accessible space that allowed members to practice between classes in the hallways near their clubroom.

Time and time again, problems begin to arise in Qu Time and time again, problems begin to arise in Queens College and the Administration keeps them behind closed doors.

The most egregious example can be found in two different anonymous threat “hoaxes,” on March 13th and March 25th. The former was made toward the Summit Apartments, and though a sweep was conducted, the campus was not informed there even was a threat until the Administration sent out an email stating it was resolved approximately 9 hours after the initial search. The March 25th threat was toward Kiely Hall during the Middle States readout, and the anonymous threat email was sent out prior, calling for the removal of Frank Wu, Troy Hahn and Joseph Loughren, “before fireworkz show at 10:30 [that day].”

The petition was created on March 26th by petition starter “Frankly Frustrated.” According to the petition starter’s bio found on Change.org: “We are a collective of frankly frustrated faculty, staff and student members at Queens College, City University of New York.” The Knight News tried to reach out to the petition starter but has received no response.
