    Knights close out historical season

    The women’s basketball team made history with a 76-64 victory over Holy Family in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Division II East Regional on March 13 at Bentley University. It was the team’s third appearance and first victory in the NCAA tournament. Junior Madison Rowland scored 31 points, including 20 in the first two quarters, six rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Head coach Elizabeth Naumovski won 20 games for the third consecutive season.     QC alum Michael Cohen reflects career in roundtable

    Michael Cohen is a producer and director for major networks like ESPN, NBC and FOX. He was head of production for two FIFA World Cups, producer for nine Olympics Games, nominated 15 times for the Emmys and produced the first-ever Extreme Games or X-Games. He is also a Queens College professor. Cohen graduated from QC in 1983. He came to the college in September 2014 to speak. Afterward, he worked with Michael Weisman, his business mentor, to create a class in the media studies department.     Another fumble by the NFL

    The NFL is a financially successful business that continues to grow at a rapid pace. The league brought in $7.3 billion dollars in revenue during the 2014-2015 season and shared it among the 32 teams. Each team received $226.4 million, which is an increase of 21 percent from the previous year. That’s an awful lot of money to wrap our heads around. Among these teams are the Dallas Cowboys. They have been deemed “America’s Team” despite not winning a Super Bowl since 1995. Team owner Jerry Jones and the “Boys” are media superstars even if they posted a 0-16 record.     Knights eager to defend championship in upcoming season

    Queens College women’s basketball team wants to capture back-to-back Eastern Conference Championships. In a preseason poll, the Knights were predicted to win the conference championship. They received nine of the 11 votes and topped the list with 117 total points. Head coach Elizabeth Naumovski enters her fifth season managing a team which won 20 games over the past two consecutive seasons. As a result, she is third in the all-time QC women’s basketball wins list with 54 victories.
