4 mins read

New York City. It’s probably the most magical place to be during the holiday season. The crisp, frosty air, the colorful lights on every building and tree and the little things like colorful holiday cups for your coffee make your Christmas spirit come alive. Growing up, TV shows and films made New York City seem like the most beautiful place to be during the holidays. Movies like “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” glorified New York City hotels and all of NYC’s luxuries.

Typically, no one is ever bored in New York City. There are tons of adventures to embark on here. During Christmas time, however, try something different that can only be experienced during the holiday season.

First place on the list to go, if you have children or if you’re just a kid at heart, is to see Santa Claus’ workshop. New York North Pole, otherwise known as Santa’s Workshop, is an entire theme park that’s meant to replicate the North Pole. There’s a village of lights, rides, gifts, breakfast with Santa and shows for people of all ages to attend. It’s great if you want to spend a magical day at the North Pole with friends or family. It’s located at 324 Whiteface Memorial Hwy, Wilmington, NY 12997. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s well worth the travel.

If you’re looking to stay closer, like in Manhattan, then a trip to The Metropolitan Museum of Art might be just the place for you. Although popular year-round, the Met is a beautiful place to visit during the Christmas season. There’s a delightfully lit tree that visitors love to take photos with, along with a dazzling nativity scene on display that really puts the Christ in Christmas.

If you want to get the feel of a small-town community while still being in the city, you’d really appreciate the Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park. It’s a very popular attraction for the ice-skating rink, but it also offers places to eat and shop as well. It’s a very rare and unique experience to feel the sense of a small community in such a big place like New York City.

If you’re more of a go-on-long-drives type of person, grab some friends and drive yourself to the holiday light show at Jones Beach. It’s such a spectacular view to see so many lights in one place. You drive through a strip of holiday lights, basking in its beauty without even having to get out of your car! You can enjoy a Christmas activity while staying nice and toasty in your vehicle.

Wherever you go, just make sure you have fun. Christmas time in New York is something a lot of people dream of experiencing at least once in their life, and are so fortunate to have all these amazing things right in our own backyard. With each journey you embark on, try to create Christmas memories to last a lifetime. You’ll definitely be able to if these holiday hot spots are on your list of Christmas fun!
