    QC basketball kicks off with Midknight Madness

    On Oct. 13, Queens College hosted its fifth annual Midknight Madness event to officially kick off the basketball season. “Midknight Madness is a celebration, pep rally and kick-off for the men and women’s basketball teams. This is a good time to bring the entire student body together to have fun, introduce them to the sports team and just participate in loads of activities,” Chyna Jude, Director of Athletics at Queens College, said.     Men’s soccer kicks into gear

    The QC Knights men’s soccer team opened their season on Sept. 3 with a tie against Philadelphia University. Since then, they have managed to gather a bit of momentum, improving to a record of 3-1-2. Their loss came on Saturday, Sept. 17 against LIU Post in their first East Coast Conference game of the season.     Queens College dance team cheer their way to victory

    The Queens College Dance Team continues to provide the sports team with support and cheering while still maintaining a high caliber in their own events. “The Queens College Dance Team is a nationally ranked team that travels to nationals in Daytona, Florida every spring to compete against other dance teams from all around the world,” assistant coach Alana Ceremeli said. The Dance Team, which started in 2004, has enjoyed multiple victories with their current coaching staff consisting of Shaw Garnier, as the head coach, and Ceremeli.     CUNY affiliates with The Rubin Museum

    Students and faculty could, on a Friday night, learn about Himalayan Asian culture thanks to a recent partnership between The Rubin Museum and CUNY. “What this partnership provides, which is really exciting, is that in addition to the free admission provided to CUNY students, faculty and staff, we offer complimentary tours, up to 100 from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016,” Laura Lombard, head of the Adult and Academic Programs, said. “Many faculty have already taken advantage of this and so far we’ve already had 30 tours out of the 100 booked.” The Rubin Museum, founded in 2004, holds a collection of art from northern India, Nepal, the Tibetan…

    CUNY Service Corps upholds service in its third year

    Full-time college students may view time not devoted to friends or studies as wasteful. Although, the CUNY Service Corps provides a unique combination of experience, service and pay. The CUNY Service Corps, which began fall of 2013, enjoys a steady growth throughout the CUNY campuses.
