    “Queens College Day” at Citi Field with New York Mets

    Queens College President, Félix Matos Rodríguez, volunteered and enjoyed the honor of being able to catch the ceremonial first pitch thrown by QC alumnus Michael Weisman to cap off Queens College Day at Citi Field held this past summer. The ceremony held prior to the Mets game against the Nationals on July 12th, 2018, was a day of celebration. The college was honored at Citi Field for its 80th year of existence. The 2017-2018 school year marked the 80-year anniversary of Queens College opening its doors for the first time. Of all the special events this past year, Queens College day at Citi Field seemed to be the most special.…

    Mixed emotions on campus for Mets in World Series

    The New York Mets reaching the World Series since 2000 was major news for Queens College students following baseball. Of course, not all are happy about it. “[I am] absolutely not [happy about it]. I’d rather see them lose every year than root for them,” Jordan O’Brien, sophomore, said. The Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs to reach the World Series in a playoff sweep, while the Kansas City Royals, their opponents, defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by winning four out of six playoff games. Other students, like senior Angelo Zamudio, embrace the Mets, hoping for a blue-and-orange victory against the Kansas City Royals in the World Series. “It’s about time…
