    ASIA Hosts Lunar New Year Festival

    Two dragons were dancing around the ballroom, both wearing vividly colored patterns, while the audience watched in awe. Although this might sound as if it is a scene out of a film, this happened at the Lunar New Year festival, hosted by ASIA on Feb. 4th at the Student Union. For those who don’t know, ASIA is an acronym, standing for Asian Students In Action.     QC’s Asian Students In Action club Creates Strong Ties

    Asian Students In Action is a cultural club at Queens College. Formerly known as the Chinese Student Association, ASIA has made steady progress towards including all of the Asian students on campus. The club took the initiative to change their name, in an effort to increase the level of social cohesion at QC. Mabel Tom an upper junior, media studies major with a BALA minor, explained the reasoning behind the name change, “CSA underwent a name change to Asian Students In Action (ASIA) to become more inclusive.     CUNY affiliates with The Rubin Museum

    Students and faculty could, on a Friday night, learn about Himalayan Asian culture thanks to a recent partnership between The Rubin Museum and CUNY. “What this partnership provides, which is really exciting, is that in addition to the free admission provided to CUNY students, faculty and staff, we offer complimentary tours, up to 100 from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016,” Laura Lombard, head of the Adult and Academic Programs, said. “Many faculty have already taken advantage of this and so far we’ve already had 30 tours out of the 100 booked.” The Rubin Museum, founded in 2004, holds a collection of art from northern India, Nepal, the Tibetan…
