Respect, Passion, and Interminable Drive: Jason Posser’s Basketball Journey

“An education of the game of basketball on the court and of the game of life off the court.” That is what Jason Posser hopes to provide every student-athlete who crosses his path.   After nearly three seasons as assistant coach of the Queens College men’s basketball team, Posser has already made quite an impact. His positive, yet aggressive coaching style helped the 2016-17 Knights end a five-year East Coast Conference (ECC) playoff drought. The coach also assisted in the growth of former QC stars Tyrone Hall, Diego Maldonado, and Tyree White, all of whom received conference honors under his tutelage. In fact, Posser’s motivation and ability to develop athletes…

QC men’s basketball team look to turn season around

After going a combined 1-2 in both exhibition and regular season games, the Queens College men’s basketball team is hoping to build off some of the lessons it took away from those three games. The team began play with an exhibition game against the elite Division I University of Connecticut Huskies. The Knights didn’t seem to put up much of a fight, losing 100-43. They shot 23% from both the field and three-point range while allowing UConn to shoot 55% and 33% respectively. The team was led in scoring by its two senior guards, Simon Green and Tyrone Hall, who scored 12 and 10 points. Despite the final score, head…

QC Knights Men’s Soccer Fall in Shootout despite late comeback attempt

The game began with both teams going at each other, and getting solid scoring chances early on, including sophomore forward Emgi Gousse having multiple shots on goal that did not get by Molloy’s goalie Raul Bonilla. The scoreless tie was finally broken at around the 14th minute of the game when Molloy senior midfielder Adam Carnwath scored to put Molloy up 1-0. The next 25 minutes of game time saw the Knights attempt…

QC Knights Men’s Baseball Season Wrap Up

The Queens College Knights men baseball team ended its season with an 18-23 record, barely missing out on the playoffs. The Knights season came to an end after dropping a pair of East Coast Conference (ECC) games to the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, needing wins in both games to advance to the postseason. Despite it being the Knights fourth straight season without a playoff berth, there were still bright spots in their season. Senior Joe Broderick finished the season with an all-conference nod from the ECC after being named to the All-ECC First Team as a starting pitcher. Broderick completed the season fifth in program history with 73 strikeouts…

Women’s basketball remain focused as playoffs approach

The Queens College women’s basketball team has maintained a 13-game winning streak, boosting the team’s season record from 8-3 to 21-3. Coach Beth Naumovski believes a key factor in their continued success is improved communication from earlier in the season, leading to better team chemistry on and off the court. “I think team chemistry is very important, especially for basketball because you always want to be on the same page as your teammates because it makes it a lot easier to make the right pass or the right reads knowing where your teammate is going to be,” junior guard Merrick Rowland said. Another large component to their success is the…
