Athlete Spotlight: Emgi Gousse leads the charge

The Queens College Knights men’s soccer team, which missed out on making the playoffs last season, has started off well so far in the 2017-18 season going 3-3 to begin the year. A major part of the team’s early success comes from the play of sophomore forward Emgi Gousse. Gousse has been nothing short of impressive this year. In just six games he is already leading the East Coast Conference with seven goals, while also remaining in first place in points with 15, which already surpasses his totals from last season. Men’s soccer kicks into gear

The QC Knights men’s soccer team opened their season on Sept. 3 with a tie against Philadelphia University. Since then, they have managed to gather a bit of momentum, improving to a record of 3-1-2. For soccer players, the sport requires a lot of dedication. There are 17 days of preseason preparation and the season is two months of the academic year. The Division 2 program stresses the importance of good academic standing as well as…

High aspirations for the men’s soccer team

The Queens College men’s soccer team will begin their season this month in hopes of making it to the East Coast Conference playoffs. With last year’s leading scorer, Glen Reid, returning and an experienced backfield of three upperclassmen, the Knights are currently working towards improving on their sixth place finish last year. “One of the things for this year’s team to improve on is their play in close matches. We had several one goal losses in conference [last season]. That is the difference between advancing to the playoffs or not,” head coach Carl Christian said. All-Conference midfielder and junior Glen Reid will be an important anchor for this year’s offense.…
