The Queens College women’s soccer team has high hopes for the rest of the 2012 season. With a 7-2-2 record, the force of 21 is currently in a good position to make the conference playoffs and hopefully place for regionals.
The year 2011 proved to be a “rebuilding” season and with the 10 new additions to their roster, the squad has tremendous chemistry and ambition.
Freshman forward Nicolette Scrozzo believes that the captain’s practices held before season helped build chemistry early.
“The practices helped us become comfortable with each other before our season even started,” Scrozzo said. “We had more time to fix the kinks.”
Although the Lady Knights have a good possibility of seeding in playoff contention, they still have significant amounts of work to do on the pitch.
“We have to beat the beatable teams,” said Scrozzo, “then we are in a great place.”
Junior center-mid Alexandra Troiano sees a significant improvement in chemistry and play from 2011 to 2012.
“We are more focused than last year; in practice and overall,” Troiano said. “We have specific goals and we are taking it game by game.”
