The Queens College Men’s Soccer Team continues through the second half of their season boasting a solid start with an overall record of 5-2-3 and a 3-1-2 record in conference play. They are now ranked third in the conference behind LIU Post and Bridgeport.

The men’s most recent conference win over Molloy College (2-1) was an exciting matchup with goals from freshman Glen Reid and the unassisted, game-winner from freshman Paul Sandoval. Both teams had 15 shots on net, but the Knights came out on top.

On Saturday, the men took on the University of the District of Columbia, a new member of the East Coast Conference. The game went into double overtime and ended in a 3-3 draw. Junior Alex Schweitzer scored the first goal for the Knights in the 51st minute of the game off an assist from Senior captain Daniel Stoker to bring the score to 1-1. Junior Tyler Iocco scored back-to-back goals in the 75th and 76th minute to keep the Knights in the game and bring the score to 3-3.

The Knights remain undefeated on their home field with three wins and three draws.

Iocco attributes the Knight’s latest success to the teams heart and dedication. According to Iocco, the difference between this year and previous seasons is the commitment to team goals rather than individual efforts.

“We work hard day in and day out as a team and every single player on our roster, freshman to senior, has a role that contributes to the team in a positive way,” says Iocco.

The men play their next conference game against Robert Wesleyan, a new addition to the ECC, at home on Oct. 12.
